As the world now knows, Beyoncé made a surprise announcement yesterday on her Instagram that she is pregnant—with twins.
She posted a photo of herself draped in a sheer veil, surrounded by flowers, proudly showing off her baby bump.
And in true Bey fashion, she followed up the post with a series on her website that features not only the full photoshoot that produced the 'gram seen around the world, but a collection of images from her pregnancy with Blue Ivy, her relationship with Jay Z over the years—even photos of her mother, Tina Lawson, when she was pregnant with baby Bey.
It's essentially a full family history, and it's making us feel things.
Titled 'I Have Three Hearts', the series intersperses photos with lines of poetry about motherhood.
Take this gorgeously visceral excerpt, for example:
"mother is a cocoon where
cells spark, limbs form, mother
swells and stretches to protect her
child, mother has one foot in this world
and one foot in the next,
mother, black venus"
There's also artful shots of a pregnant Beyoncé floating around in some sort of aquatic wonderland.
And now every pregnancy announcement we've ever seen seem just about as finessed as those annoying banner ads that pop up on Facebook. All of which makes us wonder—how will the inevitable Bey birth photoshoot possibly live up to this?
