Interest in Botox Injections at a 12-Year High Since Trump's Election

Life under President Donald Trump's administration is taking a toll on the state of our skin.

So much so that Google searches for Botox hit a 12-year high in January, right around Trump's Inauguration Day, reports Harper’s Bazaar. Searches for Botox have also risen 4 percent on RealSelf.com, a cosmetic surgery review site, according to a company spokesperson.

"While there's always a huge demand for Botox in our nation's Capitol, I do believe that there's been an uptick in the number of people requesting Botox to help them deal with the recent change in administration,” said Dr. Tina S. Alster, director of the Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery and Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Georgetown University Hospital.

Added Dr. Alster:

"So many people have told me that they wake up in the morning with frown lines because they are having bad dreams about all of the 'alternative facts' with which they are bombarded.”

The need for cosmetic surgery isn’t the only way Americans are dealing with the current political climate. Many of us are also gaining and losing weight from stress.

Celebrities too.

Barbra Streisand has tweeted about her weight gain (as well as her very relatable love of pancakes) that’s occurred after multiple mornings of watching the news.

Meanwhile, Lena Dunham has said the Trump presidency has caused her to lose weight, telling Howard Stern in February that "[...] I stopped being able to eat food. Everyone’s been asking like, 'What have you been doing?' And I’m like, 'Try soul-crushing pain and devastation and hopelessness and you, too, will lose weight.'"

Well, that's one way.
