Lonely Lingerie strikes again.
The New Zealand-based company's campaigns are known for their diversity and lack of retouching, setting them apart as a refreshingly real brand that represents all women.
Their latest campaign is their most inspiring yet, and features a 56-year-old model named Mercy Brewer.
According to Vogue, Brewer has been modeling since the 1980s, sharing runways with Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell at the height of her success. She is originally from Scotland and moved to New Zealand with her husband in the early '90s.
Now, her new campaign is helping to break down outdated and unfair standards of beauty.
The shots were taken by photographer Harry Were. In them, Brewer shows off sets from Lonely's Autumn/Winter 2017 collection.
Of the campaign, Brewer tells Stuff:
"I believe we are in a moment in time where older women's beauty has been a startling revelation. If we don't recognize it, we, every one of us, deny ourselves a future to look forward to."
Helene Morris, founder of Lonely Lingerie, adds that the company is striving to "challenge what we see in our media with a more authentic reflection of beauty and hope to grow people's visual vocabulary."
On one hand, it's unfortunate that campaigns highlighting diversity are considered groundbreaking and outside the norm. But on the other hopefully, if enough of them are created that novelty will eventually fade.
What's indisputable is that Brewer looks fantastic. We've never been more excited to age.
