Barbara Bush To Give Keynote at Planned Parenthood Lunch in Texas

Barbara Bush, daughter of former president George W. Bush, will be the keynote speaker at a Planned Parenthood fundraiser in Fort Worth, Texas on Mar. 1.

The Texas Tribune reports that the former first daughter will speak as a part of Planned Parenthood Greater Texas' annual Fort Worth Luncheon, which will raise money for the healthcare organization.

News of Bush’s participation has raised eyebrows, as her father was largely against abortion during his time as the governor of Texas and as President.

Barbara Bush has praised Planned Parenthood for its services in the past, calling the group an "exceptional organization" in a New York Times interview with Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards in June 2016.

Bush is current CEO and co-founder of Global Health Corps, a nonprofit organization seeking to "mobilize a global community of emerging leaders to build the movement for health equity."

Global Health Corps has frequently partnered with Planned Parenthood for its fellowship program, which sends fellows overseas to promote worldwide health.
