A new study published in The Archives of Sexual Behaviour has found that straight women are less likely to have an orgasm during sex than straight men, gay men, lesbians, bisexual men and bisexual women.
On hearing the findings, straight women around the world collectively sighed and said, "Duh."
For the study (rivetingly titled, 'Differences in Orgasm Frequency Among Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Heterosexual Men and Women in a U.S. National Sample'), researchers analyzed data from over 52,000 people between the ages of 18 and 65. Study participants were of various sexual orientations, but all in monogamous relationships.
To no one's surprise, straight men were found to be the most likely to orgasm. In fact, 95 percent of heterosexual men surveyed said they "usually-always orgasmed when sexually intimate".
To which straight women around the world collectively rolled their eyes.
The heterosexual men were followed by gay men (89 percent), bisexual men (88 percent), lesbian women (86 percent), and bisexual women (66 percent), with heterosexual women bringing up the rear—only 65 percent of those surveyed saying they "usually-always orgasmed when sexually intimate"
"Sounds about right," said straight women around the world.
The study also looked at what made it more likely for a woman to orgasm.
"Women were more likely to orgasm if their last sexual encounter included deep kissing, manual genital stimulation, and/or oral sex in addition to vaginal intercourse," the study explained.
"Yeah, no shit," said all women of all orientations everywhere.
The study also looked at the things women who orgasmed more frequently were doing that their less sexually satisfied counterparts were not.
Women who orgasm more often:
- Receive more oral sex.
- Have sex that lasts longer.
- Are more satisfied with their relationship.
- Ask for what they want in bed.
- Praise their partner for something they did in bed.
- Call/email their partners to tease about doing something sexual.
- Wear sexy lingerie.
- Try new sexual positions.
- Experiment with anal stimulation.
- Act out fantasies.
- Incorporate sexy talk.
- Express love during sex.
To which women around the world said, "Well, um, who has time for anal?"
Hey, no one said knowledge has to be used.
