The Oscars are right around the corner, and the buzz is everywhere.
This week, W Magazine released their annual 'Best Performances' issue, with covers pairing the year's best male and female actors. The roundup this year is one for the books, including stars like Emma Stone, Natalie Portman, Ruth Negga, Nicole Kidman, Amy Adams, Viggo Mortensen, Matthew McConaughey, and Joel Edgerton.
The photos, while gorgeous, are…a little strange. Is it just us, or do they all sort of feel like we just walked in on something we weren't supposed to see?
For example, this cover, featuring Moonlight's Mahershala Ali and Lion's Nicole Kidman in a pose that can only be described as "caught in the act".

Natalie Portman, who starred in Jackie as First Lady Jackie Kennedy, seems to be reliving her Black Swan days in this shot with Loving's Ruth Negga.

Nothing to see here. Just two Oscar hopefuls (Captain Fantastic's Viggo Mortensen and Paterson's Adam Driver) hugging it out.

Loving's Joel Edgerton and Manchester by the Sea's Michelle Williams' look says, "Yes, we totally wanted you to walk in a snap your camera just now. We are very ready for this picture."
Manchester by the Sea:
Free State of Jones' Matthew McConaughey and Nocturnal Animals' Amy Adams are confusingly intertwined.
Free State of Jones:
Nocturnal Animals:
Is Emma Stone's (La La Land) hair wet in this picture? Or is that a look? Is that Casey Afflek's (Manchester by the Sea) shirt she's wearing?
La La Land:
Not to mention the issue's feature images. What exactly is going on here, Greta Gerwig?
Felicity Jones, you might be getting ready for the night in the wrong order.
There's no denying these performers made some stunning and important films in 2016. They also gave us some something to think about with this photoshoot.
Bring on February's red carpet.
